Should I choose coated or uncoated paper?
Do you like that glossy finish on your work?
UV coating is a nice alternative to laminate. UV does have a high-gloss finish like a laminate and offers some water protection. Unlike laminate, it won’t bubble when the piece is folded. It offers protection against fingerprints and scratches.
UV coating should be avoided if the piece will be printed on again – as on a mail panel or custom imprint at a later date.
Do:
- Use UV as an alternative to laminate for pieces that you want to have a high gloss or some water protection.
Don’t:
- Use spot UV if you’re worried about the price, it tends to be expensive. Instead try using varnish instead.
